"I was hooked after seeing the wood chips fly and a beautiful turning coming to life"

Mike was raised in a family sawmill in Stoney Creek, always enjoying sawing logs to view the treasured grain hidden inside. His interest in woodturning started when he was only 12 years old.  Walking past the firewood pile in his family backyard garage, his curiosity got the best of him. He just had to mount a piece of firewood on dad's Rockwell Beaver Lathe.

“The look on people’s face when you deliver them exactly what they wanted… what a great feeling that is.”

Mike is pleased to produce turnings for new homes and especially replacement turnings for Heritage buildings. Rotten porch posts, columns and spindles that have already done time through many years of wind, rain and snow storms can be replicated and made new. Custom designs are available unlike anything you would find on a shelf at the store!

What I Do

Mikes appreciation for quality and detail goes into every piece of work, and it shows. Not only is the act of woodturning time consuming, but selecting local and exotic woods to bring a project to life is a task reserved for those with eyes for the craft.

Once all materials have reached the studio they are put into the dry kiln to remove any moisture, ensuring they meet my highest standards. Then the pieces are cut to rough dimensions and stress relieved. Now its time for precision planing and cutting and fitting pieces together.
